Welcome to the family, Rhed.

Oh my!  We have recently welcomed our first dog into our family.  We purchased Rhed from a farm in Farcombe, Devon on Friday.  His Mum is a golden labrador and his Dad is a Collie.  We picked him out from photos and when we collected him, he was immediately scooped up and placed in our arms for the journey back home.

We had thought long and hard about getting a dog and all the work that it entails.  We had been thinking of getting a slightly smaller type but we plumped for a Borador in the end.  We had been expecting chaos - much darting about and yelps of excitement.  How wrong we were.  Rhed, who was named long before he was born, is such a placid, chilled out puppy.  My first thoughts when seeing him was that he was going to be fat and lazy.  So far, he hasn't proved me wrong.

We have had him for 2 nights and three days now and he is slowly becoming more sure of himself.  He doesn't run very much (though he will chase our kitten, Florrie).  He much prefers sleeping (yes I know he's a pup).  The vet was worried on Saturday, felt it was out of character for a borador puppy but having taken him along today for another visit, she is much more happy.  Seems to be finding his feet.  Maybe he was nervous and is taking time settling in to his new home.  He didn't have much of a run on the farm so maybe he hadn't learnt to to play yet.

He is 8 and a half weeks old now.

Welcome to the family Rhed.
